This morning, QSR enjoyed a return visit from our two scholarship recipients from 2015, Mara Whitford (Bayside Secondary) and Deanna Crellin (St. Theresa’s Secondary).  With their first year of university complete, these ladies provided our group with an update about their future plans.

Mara finished her year of General Sciences at Queen’s and has been accepted into the Biochemistry program there.  During her year, Mara spent Reading Week with Queens Cares, visiting organizations which help those in need, and at the local soup kitchen.  This summer, she will be working at Fort Henry, playing a soldier’s wife (be sure to keep an eye out for her!).

Deanna’s first year of a combined Psychology program at Guelph-Humber was busy, as she became a student rep, participating on the volleyball team, and becoming a Big Sister to a fortunate young girl.  She is now a member of Zonta International, a women’s empowerment group, and will be traveling to Ecuador to study evolutionary psychology in the fall, and her goal is to become a neurophychologist.

President Geoff was pleased to present both with cheques to help with their fall studies.  Once again, QSR’s Scholarship Committee found two stellar recipients, and we are thrilled to have played a part in their education.  We look forward to seeing what these amazing women accomplish.

Thank you both, and best of luck!
