This morning, QSR had the opportunity to hear from Rotoractor Tyler Allsop, owner of Doug’s Bicycle Shop Belleville.  He has been spearheading an initiate to create the Belleville Riverside Bike Park, al multi-use facility on 50 acres of park space bordering on the Moira River.

Finding riding therapeutic himself, Tyler envisions a 10-15 km bike track and a pump track to be built beside the existing skateboard park.  In addition, there are plans for a dirt jump course and trails for mountain biking.  This new park will be open to people of all ages and skill levels, and it will provide youth in the area another safe (and exciting) place to hang out.

This massive undertaking has been approved by the City of Belleville, so Tyler is working closely with their Planning and Parks departments, and a $30,000 starting budget.  The first stage was scheduled to open June 12.  He’ll be working hard to raise the remaining funds from within the community, as the community as a whole will benefit.

An engaging, enthusiastic, and impressive presentation…thanks Tyler!

PS:  A Go Fund Me page has been created to help bring this fantastic project to life.
