On Sunday, October 30th, members started working to ready scrap metal that had been collected over the previous months for it to be recycled and turned into a profit to go towards our various club service projects in the community.
Although our our news feed has been quite for just over a month we have not and have continued to be people in action and supporting those in our community.
We were pleased to present a cheque for $1500 from the Sidney Community Service Club Charitable Foundation to Chris Houlden of COED (Continuing on in Education) and Susan Wall of Abigail's Learning Centre.
On June 25 we were happy to sponsor a hole for the Hospice Quinte Golf Tournament as well as enter a team to play a round. Fun was had by all and we look forward to participating again next year.
Instead of our breakfast meeting on Thursday, February 20th, we held a fellowship evening with Club members, partners and friends at Signal Brewery. Owner Richard Courneyea provided a tour of the facility as well as sharing the colourful history of Corbyville, his inspirational vision for the redevelopment of the community. Club members and also sampled the Brewery's many excellent ales and lagers and enjoyed the fine dining the Brewery offers.
Past-President Geoff Cudmore was joined by Club members and Operation Rednose volunteers, Janet Mathany and Antonina Durham to accept a cheque for $7,750.00 from Operation Rednose. This donation more than doubles the funds raised at our recent Curl for Kids bonspiel that was in support of Camp Trillium, Quinte SailAbility, and our Bayside Secondary Scholarship.
